Pet Wear Is Purely Cosmetic — and That Changes How It's Valued
Unlike pets, pet wear doesn't affect gameplay at all — a hat, mask, or accessory exists only to change how a pet looks. That means its entire trade value comes down to two things: how it was obtained, and how many players still want to collect it. There's no "stat" argument to fall back on, so scarcity and appearance do all the work.
What Pushes a Piece of Pet Wear Up in Value
Purchased with real-money currency rather than in-game Bucks, which limits how many players ever owned one in the first place.
Seasonal items tied to a specific event (a past Halloween, Christmas, or anniversary release) that never returns tend to climb steadily once the event ends.
Items still purchasable with regular Bucks stay cheap almost indefinitely, since supply keeps growing to match demand.
Using Pet Wear as Trade Filler
Because most pet wear sits at the low end of the value scale, it's commonly used to top up a trade so both sides land closer to even — think of it as small change rather than the main item being traded. That's fine as long as both sides agree on the actual value; the risk is when someone stacks several low-value pieces and describes it as "way more than it looks," relying on the other trader not checking. Does pet wear affect a pet's stats or abilities?
No — pet wear in Adopt Me is entirely cosmetic. It never changes a pet's value calculation beyond its own individual trade value.
Why do two similar-looking hats have very different values?
Appearance alone doesn't set value — origin does. A limited Robux-exclusive item will usually outvalue a similar-looking piece that's still purchasable with Bucks.
